Pink Noise‘ by Laura Mvula – Album Rating: 5/5 ★★★★★

Laura Mvula, the British singer-songwriter, has returned with her new album, ‘Pink Noise‘, and we can’t get enough of it! It is a gem of an album that only gets better the more we listen to it.

The album has ten smash hit singles, which adds something fresh to the forefront of modern music while taking hints from the 80’s era. Moreover, Laura penetrates deeply into her artistic sphere and extends a hand of gold.

Laura immediately demonstrates why she is one of the most inspiring and appreciated new artists of recent times with the album’s opening track, ‘Safe Passage‘. The music is beautiful, with a wide range of instruments leading the way.

Occult

Next up comes ‘Conditional‘, which takes us on a new path with a dreamlike aura and a futurist quality at its core. The structure is unusual, and it makes the song stick out like a sore thumb. We reach ‘Magical‘ about halfway through the record, and it is occult, as the title suggests.

Laura’s voice is bursting with energy, and her tone has us on the edge of our seats, waiting for her next move. Similarly, a synth arrangement blends perfectly with her beautiful timbre and screams through the speakers with a powerful refrain.

Musically, ‘Golden Ashes‘ takes a step back, allowing Laura to take centre stage with her warm and confident vocal delivery. She sings with sincerity, which nicely sets the route for the last tracks. The album comes to a close with ‘Before The Dawn‘. It is notable and creates an indent akin to the tracks before it.
