Time Flies’ by Ladyhawke – Album Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

Ladyhawke, New Zealand’s most exquisite indie-pop artist, is back with a new album that, despite being overshadowed by Adele and Ed Sheeran’s releases, manages to slip between the gaps, as it should! It’s an absolute delight!

The singer-songwriter’s new album, ‘Time Flies,’ is a surprise. For years, the singer has wowed the GSGM camp, and yet again, she grips us! Her new album speaks for many who are looking back and wondering where the hell the time has gone. Who knows, but we do know that this 11-track smash hit is a gift that keeps on giving.

Enticing Vocals

‘My Love’ is the first track on the album. The mix has an instant 80s vibe, which adds a nostalgic flavour to a famous sound many decades ago. However, it still sounds fresh in the present day, as Ladyhawke hooks us right away with her enticing vocals.

‘Mixed Emotion’ is the fourth tune on the album. Ladyhawke provides the mix with her distinctive feel-good guitar hooks and appealing vocals that leave an indent, while the bass has the hips jiving to the cadence. On track seven, the song ‘Loner’ is a little different. Furthermore, it begins with an unusual overture, but we quickly get to business with Ladyhawke delivering a superb silky vocal about a girl who appears to be a little ‘off’.

‘Love Is Blind’ brings the album to a close. The mood shifts slightly here, with a poppy chorus effect soaking the production and a beautiful vocal from the leading lady.
