‘Solar Power‘ by Lorde – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★
‘Solar Power,‘ Lorde’s new single, is out now. The song is the hitmaker’s first in four years; wow, where did the time go? Who knows? In any case, the new single is an instant summer anthem, with the accompanying video mirroring the song’s tone, with the sun shining down on the New Zealand native.
The new release begins with Lorde delivering a message that most listeners would recognize. Instead of embracing the cold of the winter, Lorde despises it. Is this, however, a track with an environmental theme? Not entirely, even though many people are drawing the connection based on the mere title. Nevertheless, it does tie in beautifully with the upcoming solar eclipse.
Lorde’s Hypnotic Vocals
Lorde’s voice is hypnotic, and her powerful tones pop out of the mix right away. Furthermore, the music is upbeat, and the environment takes on a new depth as it goes. Moreover, it begins with a relaxed vibe, and though that vibe lingers in the concluding stages, the structure shifts, and it moves into a more 90’s groove.
Overall, ‘Solar Power‘ is a thirst-quenching release, with various instruments contributing to the mix’s success. The production, on the other hand, runs smoothly and has a clear path to follow. Given the increasing number of complicated tunes rising out of the scene recently, this is a refreshing option and a welcome difference.
