Luke Mock stopped by for a chat!

Colby: What Do You Enjoy Most About Being A Musician?

Luke: Music is a part of my life in almost every way.

Colby: Which Track Of Yours Means The Most To You?

Luke: This is so hard to say. Artists tend to feel very married to their songs, and I definitely feel the same. Songs represent eras of my life, and at this moment, that’s “What You Deserve.”

Colby: The First-Ever Gig You Played, Can You Remember It? How Was It?

Luke: My first performance was at my Mom’s high school talent show (Before I started playing guitar or writing). The audience consisted of my family, judges, and about 300 students. (I have a full video of it on my YouTube channel, audience and judges response included. It was my first upload, and I was 11 years old. This is really what first made me want to be a performer, and later, and artist.

My first “real” show was Winter Fest, a yearly event in my hometown of Auburn, NY, where they had live music, a parade, and light the town Christmas tree. I performed a solo set through the Perform4Purpose organization, and the Genesee Mall was packed with families and more. I also have this on video, but not posted.

Colby: What Do You Think Is The Key To Success As A Musician?

Luke: Creating. No matter how smart you are, no matter how many streams or followers you have, it always comes back to the music. Creating authentic songs allows the audience to connect with you, which is why I believe creating is so important.

Colby: If You Wasn’t A Musician, What Job Would You Be Doing?

Luke: Something in the entertainment industry… or a tennis player… I’m not very good, but yeah, let’s go with that!
