In an interview with The Sunday Times, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, two surviving members of the legendary rock band, The Beatles, expressed their astonishment at the enduring popularity of the group’s music. The duo, who formed part of the iconic foursome alongside John Lennon and George Harrison, admitted that they initially believed their fame would be fleeting, and that their journey as a group might only last a decade.

Paul McCartney, who has been a central figure in The Beatles’ songwriting and music-making, reminisced about their early expectations, saying, “When we started, we thought that, maybe, we’d have ten years – that was the maximum span for a rock’n’roll group.” This statement eerily foreshadowed the group’s eventual split in 1970, precisely a decade after their meteoric rise to fame.
