Heavy metal powerhouse Slipknot is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with the estate of their late original drummer, Joey Jordison. The lawsuit, filed back in June, alleges that the band has been capitalizing on Jordison’s death for financial gain.

The legal action accuses Slipknot of utilizing Jordison’s name and personal belongings for Knotsfest, the band’s touring festival. According to the lawsuit, the group allegedly “lined their pockets with profit off of Jordison’s devoted fanbase” by leveraging his legacy.

Joey Jordison, who was a pivotal part of Slipknot until his departure from the band in 2013, tragically passed away in July 2021 at the age of 46. The lawsuit specifically names Slipknot’s frontman, Corey Taylor, and percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan, pointing fingers at them for not honoring a “written agreement” to return all of Jordison’s items.
