‘No Allegiance To A Flag’ is the latest Anti-Flag anthem to make its way into my inbox. It is a track which fills me with nostalgic memories from my youth. Moreover, the band were one of the first guitar bands I first fell for, and they sound just as fresh today as they did back then!
This new track kicks off in typical Anti-Flag style. Furthermore, it boasts a substantial overture with the guitar lead cutting through with super sharp quality and a drum fill which crashes down like thunder. Also, we soon head into the bands signature melodic guitar sections before a fearless performance from frontman Justin Sane who is one of the founding members of the group.
Punk
As the track progresses, we hear a myriad of rock and punk sounds which stand out with an omnipotent style. Also, the chorus comes with a catchy hook. It is contagious with a melody which will draw in even the sternest of listeners. Additionally, the vocal layers pay off massively, and it takes us back to the time when punk dominated the top spots. It is what I relish most about the Pittsburgh band; they keep it genuine and they never conform to the status quo.
Overall, the guitar leads are super slick, the vocals are on point, and the arrangement is refreshing given that it stands out uniquely on its own two feet. However, is it the best yet from Anti-Flag? For me, this is my new favourite. It drips energy from the get-go. So much so, I cannot seem to bring myself to click away from it.
