Busted best known for their early 2000 hits such as the “Year 3000” have returned with their pop-rock style on their new single “One Of These Days”. The new single has come off the back of their two new albums which will be released in 2024 alongside a greatest hits tour celebrating their twentieth anniversary.

The track follows the classic Busted style of mixing pop-rock and pop-punk together. Also, it has a heavy hint of Americanisation even though they are an English band. It is a classic return to what Busted’s fans would have bought twenty years ago. Furthermore, in some ways this is going to be nostalgic trip. But, in others it will a bit of a let-down as it feels to me as if the band are rehashing what they have already done.

Friendship

The song’s lyrics follow the idea of friendship. Also, how friends take different paths in life, quite openly mimicking that of the bands. The personal touch is there, but the repetitive lyrics may hinder the song’s emotional impact and creative progression.

“One Of These Days” is a single for those who have already fallen for Busted. Alternatively, for those who want to relive what Busted produced twenty years ago in a new shape. This new delivery sets the fans of the past ready for more of what they love. But it will leave those who discover the band in a place where they are better off listening to Busted’s top five songs on Spotify and leaving it there.

Busted have created something new and it is great to have them back! But, I think many fans and newcomers may not be overly ecstatic by this new single. Although, you can decide yourself by streaming here. Also, let us know your thoughts by commenting on our social media posts.
