The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows by Damon Albarn – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

Damon Albarn is back with a new solo tune, and this time he takes us down an even deeper melancholic path, giving us a taste of what to expect from his next album.

The new single title, while lengthy, aptly sums up the release. It begins with a slow ascent that culminates in the display of Daman Albarn’s top class. He tries out a natural vocal delivery and uses his tone to calm the ears. ‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ also lends a serene air to the foreground.

Plethora Of Colours

The track blossoms as it proceeds, with a plethora of colours seeping from the compound. Furthermore, when the stanza begins, a piano arrangement bursts through the mix and searches for the light. However, it, like the rest of the music on this piece, stays subtle. However, it is this that allows Damon’s vocals to flourish. Furthermore, the vocals take centre stage for the most part, and given Damon’s exceptional vocal abilities, it makes sense to follow this course.

Overall, ‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows‘ seems like the ideal soundtrack for a film. It’s dynamic and passionate, and Damon’s narration is beautiful and thoughtful while also giving the listener a sense of being there as the river runs.
