Canadian, hip hop lord, Drake is back with ‘What’s Next‘. It is a track from his most recent ‘Scary Hours 2‘ EP which also contains ‘Wants And Needs‘ and ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle‘.

What’s Next‘ starts with a nail-biting synth hook which has an accordion feel. It carries on throughout the entire track endlessly. Similar to a lot of Drake tracks, the melody foundation is perpetual. On ‘God’s Plan‘, the initial melody appeared more than 55 times, and it is possible that Drake has broken that record here with this hook. It is not repetitive in the wrong way; instead, it sticks deep, and it keeps the energy flowing unconventionally.

Drake’s Pandemic Life

Vocally, Drake is flying high as he always does. He speaks for many with a strong message about not knowing what the future has in store. Also, Drake sings about how he is living his everyday life in the pandemic, ‘Well summer, all I did was rest, okay? And New Year’s, all I did was stretch, okay?’ He then announces that we will see what happens next.

Overall, ‘What’s Next‘ is fresh. It keeps Drake at the forefront of the game with his infallible style smashing it once again. Also, it appears to be a track to keep his fans going until his highly acclaimed new album ‘Certified Lover Boy‘ is released. Fans were expecting it to land in January, but it got postponed, and it is now likely to arrive later this year; however, there is no official release date.
