In a touching Mother’s Day tribute, Madonna, the iconic 64-year-old pop star, revealed her initial reluctance to embrace motherhood. The singer took to Instagram on Sunday to share her heartfelt journey, expressing her doubts and eventual transformation into a loving and grounded mother.
Confessing her reservations, Madonna wrote, “I rejected the idea of being a mother well into my 30s because I associated motherhood with sacrifice, suffering, and ultimately death, and I wanted none of that.” The post was accompanied by a video compilation featuring Madonna with her six children: Lourdes, 26, Rocco, 22, David and Mercy, both 17, and 10-year-old twins Stelle and Estere.
Upon becoming a mother, Madonna described her astonishment at the newfound sense of grounding she experienced. However, she also admitted feeling “dazed and confused” as she sought to strike a delicate balance between being a devoted mother and an unwavering artist.
