In a philanthropic move that’s striking a chord with fans and charitable hearts alike, Dire Straits legend Mark Knopfler has announced the forthcoming sale of 120 of his cherished guitars. With estimates ranging from £300 to a staggering £500,000, this guitar extravaganza is set to take place at Christie’s in London on January 31.

The 74-year-old rock virtuoso isn’t parting ways with his beloved instruments solely for personal reasons; rather, a quarter of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to several noteworthy charities. Among the beneficiaries are the British Red Cross, Tusk, and Brave Hearts Of The North East.Mark Knopfler, known for his distinctive fingerstyle guitar technique, expressed a mix of sentimentality and generosity about the sale. “I’ll be sad to see them go, but we’ve had wonderful times together, and I can’t play them all,” he shared.
