Indie-folk artist Ervin Munir will release his new album “Broken Compass” on Friday, December 8th. This ten-track record is tipped to be a gripper with soulful storytelling infused with music that pushes out of the genre’s peripheries.

Ervin has teamed up with the producer Aeron Z Jones for this album. Aeron plays bass, electric and lap steel guitar, and mandolin, while Ervin delights with piercing vocals and showcases his talent on the acoustic guitar, harmonica and piano.

Breakup ballad “Fall From Grace,” played on piano, is the first song on the album. The next song, “Fall Apart,” is a protest song with electrifying guitar riffs by Aeron Z Jones. “She Never Made Old Bones” is a moving ode to Ervin’s late wife, Dorothy.

“Carolynn,” which was recorded at London’s famous Abbey Road Studios, gives a fresh look at sadness. “Pick Up the Phone,” on the other hand, is a dynamic duet with Tina Blaber that explores the complexities of an argument. The song “I Can Write A Song” is about a chance meeting in a coffee shop, and it leads into the title track of the record, “Broken Compass,” which is about how our pasts deeply affect our present lives.

“The Busker,” inspired by a time Ervin Munir spent busking in Norfolk, tells the story of his musical journey. “Why Did I Keep Movin’ On” looks at how our past actions affect our current actions. ‘Oh Why,’ the album’s end, breaks down the complicated feelings of betrayal in a relationship in a way that sticks.

The album will be out on Friday, December 8th, and you can pre-order the digital album here.
