Colby: What Do You Enjoy Most About Being A Musician?

Marsha: The capacity to turn an unknown feeling into a known one via the creative process

Colby: Which Track Of Yours Means The Most To You?

Marsha: I couldn’t choose between my babies! There are some that I prefer listening to, others I prefer singing, and some that return me to personal watershed moments in my life, both sad and joyful.

Colby: The First-Ever Gig You Played, Can You Remember It? How Was It?

Marsha: I do remember! It was at “The Orange” in West Kensington and there was a house band that would learn your demo and play it live for you. I was very nervous and had a voice wobble on one particular high note that plagued me for years after! It was filmed so I also got to relive the experience! That aside, I also remember the joy of playing with a professional live band and hearing my songs realised in a fuller way. I definitely wanted more!

Colby: What Do You Think Is The Key To Success As A Musician?

Marsha: As a musician there aren’t definite pathways to success, as there are in other careers, so you have to understand what success means for you. There are multiple books out there about how to achieve commercial success, but it’s never a sure thing,  even with full industry backing. I grew up with an idea of success as being able to do what you love.  I knew very early on that writing music was an integral part of who I was, so I set about finding ways to facilitate that.

Colby: If You Wasn’t A Musician, What Job Would You Be Doing?

Marsha: I’d use my Psychology degree to do more therapeutic work with children, or else I’d run a Dating Agency!

Marsha is to release her new single, ‘In Parallel,’ on June 9th. You can pre-save here.
