Back The Way We Came‘ by Noel Gallagher – Album Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

Although it is a new album from Noel Gallagher, it is a collection of his best tracks from the last ten years, and because they are all in one location with a powerful lens shining on them, we felt compelled to give it a review.

The album is, as one might expect from Noel Gallagher, a magnificent experience. Every tune flows perfectly into the next, and we get a bit of modern Noel mixed together with his old school magnetism from his Oasis days for good measure.

Three Discs Of Material

The record comes in three discs, revealing just how much content he has in his solo effort. Also, while several are memorable to our ears, there are gems here that may have previously slipped between the cracks.

Everybody’s On The Run‘ opens the album, and it appears to be the perfect opening, setting the tone for the rest of the album. It’s unforgivably catchy, with a story that seems just as pertinent today, if not more so, as when it came out ten years ago; where did the time go?

After seven tracks, we arrive at ‘Lock All The Doors‘, a firm favourite with an Oasis atmosphere pervading the compound. Gallagher also doesn’t hold back with an intense vocal performance, and the guitar is upfront with crunch.

On Disc 2, we delve deeper into Noel’s discography, with ‘It’s A Beautiful World’ standing out as a fearless gem. Noel’s new sound is captivating, and the dreamy texture enthrals from the start. Alternative versions of tunes, such as acoustic performances and remixes, are on Disc 3.

So don’t put it off any longer. You can check out the album below. Also, let us know what you think about Noel Gallagher’s last ten years. Do you believe the indie-rocker will excel even further in the next ten years?
