Icelandic indie rockers, Of Monsters And Men, get the ears gripping to their every hook with their new release, ‘Destroyer‘. It is the first track to arrive from the group since their ‘Fever Dream‘ album in 2019.

Kicking off with a haunting overture, the band instantly get to business with a vocal from Ragnar and Nanna, which is captivating. They are on top form, and they leverage their skill from the outset. Vocally, the tones are inviting with a warm texture. The flavour that oozes out of every note is unorthodox and stands out like the proverbial thumb.

The entire track is strong with fearless might, and the structure often flips and turns. Furthermore, one moment it is chill with a haunting aura; the next, it hits hard with a thunderous bite. The rhythm drives the way forward with omnipotence, and the drums pick up the pace as the track progresses. Likewise, many guitar layers and synth elements give the piece a new edge, and every instrument that appears adds to the already robust foundation.

Overall, ‘Destroyer’ is a track that comes just that little bit different to what else is rising out of the indie rock space. It makes it such a remarkable listen! The passion leaks from every corner of the mix, and the energy gives the group a distinct position. As a result, for anyone who enjoys music that does not conform, this one is for you.
