Sasha Anne stopped by for a chat!

Colby: Hello, Sasha! Your journey from being a YouTube makeup artist to an actor and musician is impressive! Can you tell us more about the transition and what inspired you to explore different creative avenues?

Sasha: I always knew I wanted to be a singer since I was probably 9 years old. I loved listening to my High School Musical CD’s, Hannah Montana and Meet Miley Cyrus CD’s and I wanted to do what they did. Inspiring others through their music. I always wanted to become an actress since I first watched “Hannah Montana” and “Wizards of Waverly Place” on Disney Channel but I didn’t do anything about it. I just kept saying to my mom that’s what I wanted to do too. After college, but during Covid, an acting opportunity came up for me after I told my social media manager at the time that I wanted to get back into acting. She knew the movie producer, Suzanne DeLaurentiis and she was looking for young talent to star in her Indie Horror Film. So I studied the role with the acting coaches that they provided for the movie, and that was my first feature film! My start into the acting industry and I loved it, best experience. As for being a makeup artist, I started doing makeup when I was 13 but got serious at 17 years old. I have always loved trying different products and the transformation from nothing to at least a little makeup fascinates me! It’s also therapeutic for me to create any look. The way I focus on it, is an escape from the anxiety in my brain. I also love how it makes others happy and feel confident about themselves. I became certified in 2020.

Colby: Your Cinderella makeup video was a finalist in the Shorty Awards in 2017, and you won the Audience Award for Best in Beauty for your Wonder Woman Gal Gadot makeup video in 2018. How did these accomplishments shape your career?

Sasha: I think that receiving the award has allowed people to take me more seriously as a creator and makeup artist.

Colby: You recently released your debut single, “Catch Me I’m Falling,” which became a chart-topper with over 1 million streams. How did it feel to amass such high streaming numbers?

Sasha: It still blows my mind that so many people love my remake of the hit single by Jade Starling, the lead singer of the band Pretty Poison. It’s an iconic song and I’m honored that I was able to record it with her. It was released in 2021 and it’s still doing great!

Colby: Tell us about your newest release “Looking for Fun”.

Sasha: “Looking for Fun” is about my first crush in high school and that memory inspired me to write this song. Of course he was the baddest boy in school. I thought he would like me because I was more bold than the other girls and I had long curly natural hair which set me apart from the other girls and made me unique. But it turns out he wanted someone who acted “bad” and rebellious like him. Hence the lyrics “you’re looking for some trouble, I’m just looking for love, you’re dancing with the devil.”

Colby: You’ve been a strong advocate against bullying, having overcome your own experiences with dyslexia and middle school bullying. How do you use your influence to empower others facing similar challenges?

Sasha: Once I realized I could make my voice heard through social media as an influencer I have been intent on sharing my experiences with both bullying and Dyslexia. My goal has always been to educate, inspire and empower others to help them overcome the pain and shame of being bullied. I have shared my personal experiences of being bullied in middle school as well as my struggles with Dyslexia. By sharing my personal story I hope others will feel empowered and take comfort in the fact that they are not alone so that they too can overcome their challenges. As a social media influencer, I aspire to spread awareness and have everyone recognize the impact bullying has on an individual. Dyslexia is just as challenging and by speaking openly about it and inspiring others to share their experiences  I can hope to create a more inclusive, supportive and empathetic environment for anyone facing any type of challenge. I use my platform to promote awareness and self-acceptance. I have always encouraged my followers to embrace their differences and their uniqueness.  Empowerment will  come from self-acceptance.

Colby: With your new YouTube talk show, “The Vibe with Sasha Anne,” you’ve expanded your role as a content creator. Could you tell us more about the show’s concept?

Sasha: So I just ended the YouTube talk show and I’m now working on launching my podcast on YouTube called “The Vibe”. I’ll be having some guests on it and interviewing them. I’ll probably launch the first episode next month.

Stream ‘Looking For Fun’ here.
