Leeds based ambient production duo ag. (not a typo) have released their debut single Warped Minds. For fans of the electronic style of Bonobo and Four Tet, ag. is comprised of Ross Quinn and Andrew Goddard who have each achieved considerable success retrospectively in their dj endeavours worldwide. Simultaneously comforting and melancholic, Warped Minds is about the need to return home to family when there is nowhere else to go. With the current economic climate and lack of prospects for young people, this track is sure to ring familiar bells for many.

Whilst the echoing vocals bring a reverberating sense of longing, the 4/4 beat adds grit and an edge of resilience to the atmospheric swells of synth. Speaking about the inspiration for the single, the pair said it came from, “our own experience of living in London under the strain of money and not being around what you know, we count ourselves lucky we have a safe haven, which we can call home. Both coming from rural parts of the UK we find escaping from the city even for a day can help alter your mind back from the warped state filled with stress and anxiety.” Offering just the right amount of chill for a post-3am track, Warped Minds proves these newcomers are not to be overlooked.

Warped Minds is the first track to be released from their upcoming EP Servia, due to be released in September and in it they have marked a space for themselves in the forward thinking scene of electronic music. Having already gained recognition from BBC Introducing, this single is sure to be followed by a stream of intelligent tunes that give us all the feels and they will be supporting Scott Quinn at The Camden Assembly on September 5th.

ag. have more exciting live music news coming soon so we’re keeping our eyes peeled for more from this impressive duo.
