Coloratura’ by Coldplay – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

On their new 10-minute cinematic release, ‘Coloratura,’ Coldplay continues their space theme. Also, the group’s greatness flourishes and they blast over the airwaves with thought-provoking creativity.

The music begins with a gradually rising overture with an outer space texture, which immediately sets the tone. But, it’s difficult to predict where the track will go based on the intro; will it take the upbeat dance way that they’ve become known for delivering? Or will it take a melancholic route akin to their more delicate works? They choose the latter option.

Philosophical

The mix is oozing with passion, and Chris Martin’s soft and welcoming vocal tone pierces sensibilities. Also, he sings a profoundly philosophical message, frequently posing the question, What is time? What is the meaning of life? What is the true nature of the universe? If you dive too deeply into the subject, it will drive you insane, but Coldplay leaves the mind wandering with distinct stimuli.

The entire track is unconventional musically, with the structure and arrangements frequently shifting as it proceeds. Moreover, it comes to a halt and resumes often with new elements and hooks emerging from the air. So much so, it succeeds in hooking us for the duration, and the diverse sounds that appear pave the way for the band’s upcoming new album, ‘Music Of The Spheres.’

The new album will be Coldplay’s ninth and will be released on October 15th, with pre-orders available now.
