In an unexpected revelation, legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne has opened up about his desire to become the 10th member of the iconic masked metal band, Slipknot. This surprising revelation came to light during an interview with Corey Taylor, Slipknot’s frontman, as they reminisced about their first meeting in 1999 when the band joined the lineup for Ozzy’s Ozzfest music festival.
Corey Taylor shared this intriguing anecdote with Classic Rock magazine, shedding light on how Slipknot secured their spot on the Ozzfest bill thanks to Ozzy’s son, Jack Osbourne, who was an avid fan of the band. Taylor explained, “The reason Slipknot got onto Ozzfest is because we were [Ozzy’s son] Jack’s favourite band. Sharon gave us a little more leeway because of that. We did some crazy s***, but she’d be, ‘It’s fine, it’s Slipknot.'”
While Ozzy’s offer to join Slipknot was likely made in jest, the idea of such a collaboration is sure to excite fans of both artists. The visual and musical spectacle that would result from such a union is nearly unimaginable, as Ozzy’s classic rock sensibilities meet the chaotic and aggressive sound of Slipknot.
